Thank you Ajit and everybody for your encouragement.

I am at once excited and scared about the prospect of the next contest. Excited because of the feast of poetry that I will be a guest to and scared, obviously, because I have to be in the unenviable position of selecting the best.
A week ago, we received a bunch of ‘Best pictures’ by e-mail from one of our friends. Each one ran a riot of feelings in me, and I am yet to sort them out! I have chosen two of them.
Since we all have been writing poetry. I thought we should also start experimenting a bit. I suggest that we try out the following forms of free verse poems:

1)     Acrostic poem: Where when the first letters of the poem are strung together, it becomes the title of the poem.
2)     List poem: List poems name or describe a person, place or thing. They may be how-to or history poems.
3)     Poem of address: Poem written to somebody/ something.
4)     Persona poem: Opposite of poem of address. You become another person or object and write the poem from that point of view.
5)     Narrative poem.

The above poem types are mere guidelines and are certainly not obligatory for any entry. You may write in any other way too.

I thought that since we are all so passionate about poems, we might want to try to be venturesome. We may have done all this before, but this time let us try purposefully. Trust me, you will enjoy the exercise. I am willing to even give some examples of the poem types if any of you wished.
However, if anyone feels that this is not confirming to this contest’s guidelines, I shall be glad to withdraw the stipulations. Here are the two pictures:

The last date for sending in entries will be 28-07-08. I hope to come back with-I wouldn’t say results-the review on 29-07-2008.

The rules remain same: (Copied from Ajit Nambiar’s blog )
- Let the image guide but not confine your imagination.

- Time and space mandate that your expressions should not be in excess of 500 words.

- Upon conclusion, we would have identified the next person to run the show for another week.
- Let’s be sensitive to the public forum and refrain from putting up vulgar posts.

- Let’s maintain originality, in English. Writing in Hindi will add to the flavour.

- If inspiration goads you to post multiple creative works, there are no limits on expressions. For the sake of the contest, however, only your first among multiple entries will be considered.

- Every entry should be submitted in the comments section of this blog post to make it eligible for the contest.  To copy the particular blog site all one needs to do is to place the cursor on that top line (with http:// etc.) and right click.  After right click one right click on COPY and then left clicks on PASTE to put it into the comments.
